One day last week, I didn’t drink coffee. I’d be doing stuff at home in the morning, came to work a bit late, and then went climbing with a coworker instead of sitting and having my morning cup.
By the afternoon, I was near tears with a headache. What’s the matter with me? I thought, before I remembered.
Since I was home, I made coffee. Careful not to overdo it, I decided I’d make instant. And by instant I mean VIA, which is really very good, but spendy. I think the vials are about a dollar apiece.
That day I realized, I should really cut back. I have a cup that holds 16 ounces of coffee, and I drink it black, and have at least two cups in the morning. Also I don’t eat breakfast, so that’s a lot of caffeine sloshing around on an empty stomach. That much of anything (other than water) can’t be good for me.
Now I’m down to one cup a day. My next step will be decreasing the size of the cup.
I want to get to the point where I can skip a day without a monster headache.
Recently, I’ve decided that I won’t drink wine alone. That has helped with my budget. As well as my feelings of being addicted.
I won’t drink sugar (which is not just good for my wallet, but will save tens of thousands of calories per year), I won’t drink booze alone, and I will make my $14 a pound of coffee last weeks and weeks.
Frugal, and good for me!
