Have you seen those commercials saying that you might be entitled to money?
Me too, right between a set of infomercials.
So my first thought when I got something from the Oregon Department of Lands saying that I should claim my money was, “wow scams are getting higher and higher tech!”
Then I asked Google if DSL was a scam. No, it said, everything is fine.
So, I went to the website. Lo and behold, I was owed some money. But there were several hoops to jump through.
Okay, sure, proving all these addresses from college will be a snap!
So, I emailed them. They said, send it all in, sign it, and we’ll get back to you.
Yesterday I got a thing in the mail saying, okay now all you have to do is sign this in front of a notary and we’ll send you a check for
wait for it
It doesn’t seem like a scam now! Especially since they are showing me all kinds of addresses where I did in fact live.
Though I really don’t think the one for $1099 is really owed to me. It’s probably more like “bank error in your favor” in Monopoly.
Or I was the kind of 23-year-old not to notice being owed that much money from MBNA.
This will really help my snowball!
