I filed my taxes two weeks ago.
I used H&R Block, which I liked, but it seems like they’re all the same.
However, H&R Block has a higher income limit for their free version: $57,000.
My first thought: Sweet! I qualify.
My second thought: I can’t wait until I no longer qualify!
Anyway, it was very easy, took about twenty minutes, and the best part of all, I am getting a refund.
Last year, the IRS owed me about $4 less than Oregon wanted from me. I was happy, because that’s the way it’s supposed to work.
But this year? Both the IRS and the state of Oregon took out more than they should have.
A whole paycheck more than they should have.
I’m very excited about this return, since it will be applied in full to my snowball.
It’s kind of weird. I mean, on the one hand, I just gave the state and federal government an interest-free loan. So I should be upset about that.
But it’s like when I put on a winter coat for the first time and I find $5 and an old favorite lip gloss.
