I was feeling rather heavy. Sure, I’d been exercising, but I just kept feeling a little lethargic. I have heard so much about juice fasts and so I contacted the owners of Skinny Limits (actually, Austin Skinny Limits, fun play on words, no?) to see if I could do a review.a day’s worth of juice
I love blogging.
So, they sent three days worth of juice. Six bottles of juice a day. It fills a refrigerator! Also, I had it delivered to work, where I got endlessly teased about my juices.
I didn’t care. I was hungry, so I dived right in!
The first thing I noticed was the taste. My first juice was crazy delicious. It turns out, that’s a common theme for these. They are all really good. Even the one that sounds the weirdest. The cashew nut milk one? Was so stinking great.
I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I am not a juice drinker in real life, so subsisting entirely on juice was something I was not quite prepared to do. But they weren’t too sweet, and they weren’t too … icky?
Did I lose weight? Probably not, but that wasn’t the point. I wanted to kick start my eating habits back into something more closely resembling fresh, raw vegetables and something less like happy hour.
Three days is a long time to consume juice and juice alone, and I didn’t quite finish the program. On day three, I ended up having dinner with my sister after the last cashew nut milk.
I do think that in some cases a juice fast would really kick your metabolism into high gear. I mean, it’s entirely vegetables and fruit (and cashews at night) so it would completely flush out the boxed food yuckies.
One thing I noticed was that I wasn’t quite as focused as usual, so if you decide to order from them, I’d wait until you have a weekend. Starting on a Wednesday made the rest of the week really challenging, but by Friday, I’d had it figured out, so keep that in mind. Start on Saturday, and by Monday, you’ll be okay.
Here’s my honest opinion: I did not enjoy the cleanse until it was over. It was very difficult! But once it ended, I found myself at the store stocking up on my favorite veggies. So it kicked me into salad gear in a big way. It ended last Friday and I’ve had eight salads since!
I don’t like juice, and I wasn’t a fan of this process. It definitely helped me hit “reset” but I wouldn’t do it again. Not this way, anyway. I’d certainly do three days of raw fruits and vegetables, and I bet I’d feel even more full and satisfied than I did with juice.
Who should try this? People who need to reintroduce themselves to veggies. To eating salads and fresh fruit. To simplifying their diets. Who have sympathetic family members who will put up with them if they are cranky.
