Give!Guide highlights local Portland Nonprofits that are changing the lives of Portlanders and Oregonians.
It’s such a cool thing that this newspaper (the Willamette Week, an alternative weekly) puts out each and every year. There’s a strong vetting process, and they only allow a small number of charities to be a part of it.
I hear the process for getting there is pretty rigorous, and I can’t blame them.
Because the Give!Guide makes it really easy to give money in $10 increments. There’s an incentive card, which gives you a cup of coffee, an ice cream cone, and who cares what else! Those two things alone are worth $10.
I usually give my money every month, to a few different charities. Read more about my thoughts on giving here. (Wow that’s an old link — worth revisiting, for sure!)
The Give!Guide is not only sending out incentive cards, they do different campaigns to get people donating. The one where you could win a catered ice cream party was yesterday, but, alas, I did not win. I bet I could have made a bunch of friends if I had, though! :)
Here are the upcoming dates:
Dec. 3: A Trek Allant 7 from Bike Gallery.
Dec. 12: A case of spirits from Rogue Distillery.
So, local friends, donate $10. Or more, if you’re feeling generous.
Tis the season and charity begins at home, right?
Hey, there you go, a twofer. Two cliches for the price of one.
