The idea is simple, and brilliant. In Portland, there are a bunch of urban homesteaders. You know, the ones who grow their own food and make preserves and such out of them.
There are apparently food swaps all over the country. Just Google your city + food swap. I learned about Portland Food Swap the day after the Fall swap — isn’t that how it always goes? So I decided I wouldn’t let that happen again and followed the organizer’s blog (which turns out to be lovely in its own right) so I could sign up as soon as registration opened for the next one.
Well. The next one is this afternoon.
I am bringing:
- sugar maple smoked salt caramels
- fleur de sel caramels
- salted butterscotch sauce
- strawberry liqueur
- sweet & spicy pickles
- dill pickles
- dilly beans
- jalapeno sweet relish
