I went to Olympia, WA this weekend for some quality time with my family.
My sister came, too.
And? As a special bonus, my boyfriend was also there!
Everyone was there by Saturday afternoon. On Saturday morning, my boyfriend and my dad and I went with Dad’s English Setter puppy (who is awesome) on his first walk around the lake.
He’s six months old. And adorable. So he was pretty popular.
I wish I had pictures!
We made breakfast, we enjoyed the sunshine (oh! sunshine) and when the sister arrived, we went downtown. Explored some shops (the outdoor shop is going out of business, so their stuff was half price, the spice shop is always fun, and a new olive oil shop was awesome and might sell my caramels), went wine tasting. Had to stay all the way zipped, but sat outside. Went out to dinner.
It was just lovely.
I went with my sister to mass on Sunday (her thing, not mine) and she bought me a coffee.
Then, the voice of reason had to work south of Olympia (which is conveniently on the way to Portland) so we stayed in a hotel with a hot tub.
It was all so very enjoyable and I came back refreshed and ready for a long week of work.
Sometimes family time is expensive (time is money and all that, and if I come back feeling more tired than I was when I left, it’s a bad waste) but this time it was perfect.
It’s mid-week now and I’m still basking in the glow of hugs and love.
