A little while ago, I wrote about the sneaky ways that I save money. Basically, I am a lazy hippie so I don’t spend money on things that most women do.
One thing on the list got more attention than the others. The fact that I don’t shampoo my hair, ever, got a lot of people wondering if I look like Swamp Thing.
I do not look like Swamp Thing. I don’t want to post a picture of me, but rest assured, no one would notice that I don’t use shampoo.
Here’s how to go without shampoo:
- Run out of shampoo. Use up the last of whatever you have and don’t buy new stuff.
- Get more conditioner, though, if you want.
- Rinse your hair.
- Use conditioner, but not every day. Money doesn’t grow on trees, you know!
It also helps if you have hair like mine. Ridiculously curly. Thick. Super dry. The kind of hair that gets four inches longer if someone straightens it out. Does your scalp flake? You might be interested to try this out, since it is the one thing that has really helped my dandruff situation. Turns out, harsh shampoos that are designed to cut dandruff irritate my scalp and make my head itch.
That is all! If you try it, you might want to give yourself two weeks before running back to the shampoo bottle. Your hair/scalp takes a bit to recalibrate, so you might feel like swamp thing for a short time.
Let me know if you try it!
