Registering my domain name with Domain.com
When I first started blogging, I was using the free WordPress. But when I decided I wanted something new, I came up with my url, and to my surprise, it wasn’t taken!
So, I looked around, and found several places where you can buy domains.
Several is probably an understatement.
I knew I didn’t want to go with the cheapest option because they have trashy commercials and they objectify women and I don’t think it’s necessary to do that in order to have a website (even though a large percentage of the internet is devoted to the objectification of women), so I did some more research. Don’t know which domain registration company I’m referring to? Consider yourself lucky. :)
I ultimately landed on Domain.com and I couldn’t be happier with their system. The typical price for a domain (at least one that isn’t premium) is $12.95 a year, and there are often coupons and deals that make registration around $20 for two years.
Domain Name Search
It’s really easy to search for domains, and I feel like Domain.com has great alternative suggestions — better than the others, in my experience. I have purchased three domains through these guys, and it’s easy to figure out how to move the nameservers and all that other technical nonsense that makes more sense to me now than I ever thought it would.
So, if you’re looking for a non-trashy but still affordable place to register and find domains, I highly recommend Domain.com.
