Yesterday’s post was really directed at me.
See, today I have family coming to visit. Two 19-year-old cousins, to be exact.
They’ve never traveled together without parents, aside from visiting each other’s colleges.
They’re here for just over a week, and they want to see all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
And I want to show them! I’ll be working less, traveling more, and spending money. Not a ton, because these aren’t the type that want to go to fancy restaurants (and they’re too young for bars) but more than my monastic life recently. My dad passed me some cash so that I could spend money on “the girls” as we’re calling them, and that will cover my gas.
I’m not going to let myself feel guilty for showing the girls a good time. So in July, I’m not going to make a student loan payment until after I can assess how much I can afford.
I’m not interested in carrying a credit card balance (ever again, ever!) so my solution is to cut back on the $1000/month payment toward the student loan.
And that’s okay.
Because having visitors should not make me worry — these girls are sweet and fun and won’t need much in the way of entertainment!
I’ll figure out the spreadsheet another time.
