I met Shannyn at FinCon in September, and immediately had a girl crush on her. This was a woman who was confident in her skin and unapologetic about being a girly girl. She spoke in front of a small crowd in a cheetah print dress and bright lips and told us that we, too, could host giveaways and pitch companies and get stuff in the mail. I was floored.
I went back home and wondered how I could work on pitching companies. Then she approached me and asked if I’d be interested in pitching companies on behalf of Beautiful Giveaways.
Did I ever! Occasionally you will see a note here about a giveaway I’m hosting over there (have you seen the one about winning $75 in humanely raised meat? Go check it out!) but if you’re interested in winning a prize or five, you should add Beautiful Giveaways to your RSS.
Shannyn spent an evening going over the basics of pitching companies for review. It was a coaching session, and she really helped us with our pitches. Then she wrote an e-book called Rockstar Blogging. Of course I bought it! I’ve already learned so much from her, so, I figured it couldn’t hurt to have everything down in one place. Also, right now, I’m a staff giveaway gal, and if I want to start pitching companies on behalf of Frugal Portland, then I need this road map.
That’s precisely what Rockstar Blogging is — a roadmap and an outline. Shannyn breaks the entire process into very easy to manage chunks, and makes pitching companies in order to boost their numbers not only possible, but not all that complicated.
The way she writes is so approachable, and instills confidence that yes, you too can do this. The point is to get started.
Who should buy Rockstar Blogging?
The blogger that would like to start relationships with companies, or the non-blogger who wants to start a blog and start getting free things in the mail.
If you are interested in getting things in the mail, and you’re waiting on that kick in the pants, Rockstar Blogging is that kick.
It’s $24, and I swear it will pay for itself.
Please note: I purchased this. Yes, those are affiliate links (which means I get a percentage if you choose to buy it) but my copy was paid for, fair and square.

Please also note: Every time one of my friends from the internet goes out and hits “publish” on an ebook, I’m likely to buy it. The one exception I can think of is “How to Engineer your Layoff” but that’s because I love my job and don’t intend to leave it any time soon. So, bloggers, if you’re writing good content, and you’re creating ebooks, you should let me know!
