I love this time of year. It’s the beginning of 2014, and more importantly, the end of 2013. Don’t get me wrong, many good things happened last year, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited to leave the past in the past and start making tracks on the new year.
I’m excited for things to come this year.
I’m also a big fan of arbitrary deadlines, and the end/beginning of the year is as good a time as any. I know that the detractors to the resolution mindset say to change when you’re ready, and so if you want to change something in mid-July, by all means, change it! I’ll do that too, but I’ll use the list I created last month as a framework.
Each month, I’ll do something else rather arbitrary. This month, it’s cooking more at home. What I mean by that is that in the whole month of January, I’ll eat in restaurants not at all.
Brent’s on board (oh, and he’s fully moved in!) and we’re cooking together.
It’s silly and arbitrary, but fun so far. We’ve already been to one ethnic grocery store, where we bought (among other things) an entire case of coconut milk.
I’m also climbing aboard the weight loss train. I think cooking at home goes hand in hand with losing weight.
Getting back to work after a lot of time away from work is hard.
What are you doing this month to set yourself up for a great 2014?
